American Airlines Jet Diverts to Cayman Islands, Mechanical Issue

An American Airlines plane en route to Panama diverted to the Cayman Islands on Tuesday due to an unspecified mechanical issue.
‘The Cayman Islands Airport Authority said the flight took off from Miami with 147 passengers. After an unspecified “mechanical problem” was detected, the plane diverted and landed at Owen Roberts International Airport on the territory’s main island of Grand Cayman, the authority said.
All airport emergency services were on standby as the American Airlines plane landed. Passengers disembarked and were taken to the airport’s departure hall.’
The Boeing 737 was grounded pending inspection by maintenance crews. American sent another plane to get the passengers to Panama.
