German airline Lufthansa has cancelled over 1,700 of its flights slated for Monday due to a labor union strike.
The Verdi union called for a strike over failed salary negotiations between the two sides.
“Due to strike action announced for April 22, nearly all Lufthansa flights to German and European destinations must be canceled,” Lufthansa said in a statement.
The cancellation of flights comes after negotiations between Verdi and Lufthansa over wages and working conditions failed on Wednesday.
The airline said only 20 of the 1,650 short-haul flights scheduled for Monday would operate.
