Southwest Airlines Jet Struck by Lightning Landing at Jackson Airport
A Southwest Airlines jet was struck by lightning on Thursday evening while landing at Jackson-Medger Evers International Airport.
The Clarion Ledger reports:
‘Southwest Airlines flight 1798 was arriving from Chicago when it was struck, according to a report from WLBT.
Passengers on the plane said it was struck while it preparing to land in Jackson during a strong thunderstorm Thursday night.
Passengers reported there was a brief flash of fire, according to WLBT.’
There were no reports of injuries.
The plane was taken out of service for inspection, but no major damage is suspected.
