US Airways Jet Diverts to Knoxville, Tennessee, Possible Blown Tire

A US Airways regional jet flying from Charlotte Douglas (CLT) to Tallahassee (TLH) on Friday diverted to McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS) in Knoxville, Tennessee when pilots suspected a blown tire.

‘Several emergency vehicles lined up at a staging area at Springbrook Corporate Center in Alcoa in case they were needed.

The plane safely landed and the 46 passengers and three crew members deplaned shortly after landing.The Federal Aviation Administration tower was notified at 1:40 p.m. that McGhee Tyson had been asked to take precautionary standby measures, said airport spokeswoman Becky Huckaby.

After deplaning, U.S. Air officials were making plans for passengers to resume their flight to Tallahassee.’

It is unclear from reports if there was a blown tire. There were no injuries.

The aircraft was a Bombardier CRJ-200.
