Vistara, one of India’s new full-service airlines and a joint-venture of Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines, has on Friday (March 17) signed a 5-year agreement with the local arm of world's aerospace leader Airbus Group to provide training services to Vistara pilots for the A320 type aircraft.
The two companies inked the agreement at the launch of Airbus India Training Centre (AITC) in New Delhi. AITC, which brings the latest technology to India for the training of flight crew, is equipped with a new software that accurately simulates the aircraft handling characteristics and system responses. The tie-up will ensure Vistara pilots will gain significantly from Airbus’ world-class training methodologies and systems and be trained with global standards, said TATA SIA Airlines Ltd, the parent of Vistara, in a Friday statement.

As India gears up to become the world’s third largest aviation market, it is imperative to have adequate world-class training facilities to ensure a steady pipeline of proficient pilots," said Phee Teik Yeoh, Chief Executive Officer, Vistara.

The training services offered by Airbus currently covers full flight simulation, aircraft procedure and computer based training and standard pilot transition training
According to Airbus India's Commercial Aircraft president, Srinivasan Dwarakanath, his company is honoured to have Vistara as the first customer for the Airbus India Training Centre.
"We will start training their pilots when the centre becomes operational end-2018. Our success is tied to the success of our customers and one way we contribute to that is by offering them our services like flight training," said Dwarakanath.
Vistara, which introduced the concept of premium-economy class in India, has already flown over 4 million customers in a little over 26 months of operations in the domestic skies. The airline has by now expanded its network to 19 destinations across the country with over 500 weekly flights and 13 aircraft. It has also connected India with multiple international destinations via its interline partners.
